We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Manager–Operations. The broad responsibilities of this position include planning, leading, organizing and controlling the operational processes and production workflow of one of the three manufacturing plants.  The primary responsibility of this position is managing day-to-day operations in order to meet performance, production and cost targets.  This position reports to and supports their respective facility manager and has leadership responsibility for 3-5 supervisors and 30-50 reporting employees.  This position is an important development assignment for those aspiring to positions of increasing responsibility within the company, including Plant Manager.  Compliance with applicable State and Federal Regulations related to safety and environment is an important part of this position.  
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for achievement of plant production, quality and cost objectives.
  • Develop plans for efficient machine, workforce and material utilization.
  • Ensure that all plant assets are properly managed, safeguarded and secure.
  • Work closely with managers in other areas to optimize total company production.
  • Implement best practices and the most effective technologies in all areas of operations.
  • Identify and implement improvements in site operations to reduce cost, improve HSE performance and improve productivity in line with the company mission.
  • Troubleshoot operating issues and formulate effective corrective and preventative operating solutions.
Responsible for the direct supervision and scheduling of operations personnel as well as ensuring appropriate shift coverage and effective integration of O&M activities.
  • Lead operations personnel in safe manufacturing of high quality products that meet customer expectations while minimizing costs.
  • Select, train, develop and coach a workforce that is proficient, multi-skilled and flexible enough to deliver both production and productivity objectives. 
  • Foster cross-functional development of plant personnel.
  • Increase organizational capacity and capability by identifying and developing talent in the organization, focusing on career progression, succession planning, and knowledge transfer.
  • Assess current skill sets and align development and training needs with future growth and vision.
  • Coordinate and conduct staff performance reviews and establish training objectives for personnel.
Analyze production data and develop corrective action plans that will deliver improved plant performance and efficiencies, as needed.
  • Design and implement continuous improvement projects that increase throughput and reliability.
  • Identify and implement productivity improvement projects.
  • Assure compliance with and improvement of all work methods and processes (CBA, SOP).
  • Submit accurate, thorough and results-oriented reports both verbally and in writing, as required.
  • Assist with O&M budgeting.
Manage plant operations in an efficient manner consistent with Company, State and Federal health, safety and environmental regulations, policies and procedures to achieve production and operation goals and ensure a safe work environment.
Required Skills:
  • Able to apply problem-solving and experienced-based judgment to complex challenges in ways that deliver measurable and sustainable improvements in operational performance.
  • Willingness to “roll up sleeves” and work at all levels of organization, as circumstances require.
  • Must possess understanding of process equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Able to interpret a wide variety of technical information, including basic statistical analysis of trend data.
  • Effectively balance big picture concerns with day-to-day activities.
  • The successful candidate must be willing and able to spend up to 50% of the time in physical plant areas.
  • Able to support plants which are in continuous operation (24/7).
-Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with relevant operations experience. 
-At least 5 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on plant operations.
-Must have direct (hands-on) manufacturing/production experience in a supervisory role.
-Familiarity with introductory chemistry and chemical processes.
The successful candidate must possess a sound understanding of Process Safety Management regulations and procedures.  The candidate will have strong computer skills including a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.  Strong analytical, verbal, writing and presentation skills are required.  Candidate must be proficient in data analysis and statistical methods. Must possess a demonstrated ability to create and implement innovative solutions to complex problems.  Budgeting experience preferred.
